What does the Water Europa facility do?
The facility uses reverse osmosis and filtration to treat local groundwater and produce purified drinking water.
From groundwater to drinking water: here is how the plant treats it, step by step, and what the results look like.
TREATMENT PROCESS
How the water is treated
At Water Europa, our water treatment process begins by collecting groundwater in a storage tank.
- 1
Carbon filtration
The water then passes through carbon-filtering vessels, which help remove impurities.
- 2
Sediment filtration
A series of pipes carry it through sediment filtration to remove accumulated dirt and suspended particles.
- 3
Reverse Osmosis (RO)
Next, water pumps send the filtered water into the Reverse Osmosis (RO) system, which uses specialised membranes, imported from the USA and supplied by Toray Membrane USA, Inc., to remove dissolved salts and other impurities.
shield
An automatic dosing pump injects antiscalant into the system to prevent mineral deposits from accumulating on the RO membranes, helping maintain filtration efficiency.
- 4
Storage & antibacterial filter
Finally, the treated water is stored and passed through an additional antibacterial rod filter before distribution to the local community.
Water quality (TDS)
Our plant uses groundwater with an initial Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) level of approximately 2200 ppm. The RO membrane rejects approximately 95 to 97% of the dissolved salts, lowering the TDS level to around 120 to 130 ppm, depending on the season. During June and July, the treated water’s TDS level can fall to approximately 60 to 70 ppm.
